Back Once Again With The Ill Blog Behavior

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Ramadan (is that over yet?)/Kwanzaa/Festivus/Saturnalia/Boxing Day. I was in Colorado over the holiday and had much fun with my Mom and my slightly insane step-family. Christmas with a 6-year-old is fucking exhausting.

Whilst in the lovely land of little oxygen and excessive Christian pricks that is Colorado Springs, I did get a chance to check out a couple bitchin’ record stores. One was The Leech Pit, an awesome record/vintage clothing store that I have mentioned in the past. If you are ever in the Colorado Springs area I highly suggest checking them out, as they will serve as a much needed respite from all the Jesus freaks that populate the area.

The other was Independent Records, a local chain store that has a great selection of everything from vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and video games both used and new. There are several of them in the area, but I went to the biggest one that had the best vinyl collection. I’ll be posting some stuff that I picked up there in a few weeks, I bought so much vinyl that my mom had to ship it back since it wouldn’t fit in my luggage.

Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Old Skool Edit)
Renegade Master (Original Mix)
Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Old Skool Mix)
Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim New Skool Mix)
Renegade Master (Tall Paul Mix)
Renegade Master (Urban Takeover Mix)
Argh. These tracks were SUPPOSED to be the highlight of my mega-awesome pre-Christmas house post, but I forgot to upload them. Which makes it much harder for you all to download them. This was doubly annoying since it was the song that inspired by decision to create an “all-house” post since it’s probably one of the greatest club tracks of all time, made even better by Fatboy Slim’s nigh-perfect remixes. If you call yourself a dance music fan and you don’t have these tracks on your computer then you’re fucking up. The first four versions were taken from a
CD single, while the final two were ripped from a 12” single. They are all must haves. Download them and cherish them.

Love The Neighbor
Can anyone tell me what a Xymox is? Anyone at all? At the very least can you tell me how to pronounce it? I’d be most grateful. Anyways, I don’t have much to say about these guys other than that these songs were from a 12” single and that, like the band’s name, they confuse me greatly.

    ZEE-mocks?
Amanda Lear did a better dance-rock cover of “Wild Thing”, which isn’t saying much at all.

Maybe it’s native American. They’re British goths, right? Must be native Ameerican.

Nice. I had that Renegade Master EP on CD years ago but idiotically sold it without ripping copies of the songs. Thanks for the update.

As to the Xymox stuff, that EP caused a lot of arguments amongst my goth pals (all three of them.) Most called it the worst sell-out they’d ever heard… until they hear Wolfgang Press’ Queer and then things got really hairy.

Happy new year and thanks for the posts (especially that older one with 808 and the Leather Nun.)

I always thought it was ZIE-mocks and it’s awesome stuff to my non-goth ear 🙂 thanks for upping it xoxox! Happy New Year, thanks for doing what you do, looking forward to your music and rants in 2009.

Xymox is Dutch, from the Netherlands (so am i). Check on the name Clan of Xymox. I have known them for years. Their line-up has changed a lot. I like their old work with the classic “A Day”. I got to know them when they were related to Dead Can Dance (early work) and Joy Division. I pronounce it like “zymoks”…………

Oh my god. I heard “Renegade Master” for the first time last month, and I thought it was fantastically ridiculous.
Now it’s on the Lost Turntable…You are my hero of blog-tacular awesome.

I never bothered to realize there were mixes of Renegade Master besides the Fatboy Slim Old Skool one. That one was so fantastic. I’m really curious to hear the rest of these. I don’t think I’ve even heard the original! Thanks so much.
